What Is the Pool Revival Package?

The Revival Package is designed for pools that are structurally sound but visually tired, surfaces that have gone dull, developed staining, or collected enough mineral and calcium buildup that regular cleaning can’t touch it anymore.

Restore Surface Brightness

A professional acid wash strips years of calcium scale and staining without the cost of a full replaster.

MicroGlass Protection

A specialized coating is applied after the wash to resist reattachment of algae, calcium, and minerals.

Skip a Full Resurfacing

Ideal for pools 5–12 years old with good underlying plaster, a fraction of the cost and downtime.

Easier Long-Term Upkeep

The sealed surface is smoother, brighter, and holds up longer between cleanings and chemical adjustments.

Rather than a full replaster, the Revival Package uses a professional acid wash to strip surface buildup and restore the original brightness of the plaster or pebble finish. Once the surface is clean and prepped, we apply MicroGlass, a specialized protective coating that creates a smooth, sealed layer that resists the reattachment of algae, calcium, and mineral deposits going forward.

The result is a pool that looks significantly better and is noticeably easier to maintain,  without the cost or downtime of a full resurfacing project.

Signs Your Pool Is a Good Revival Package Candidat

This service is a strong fit for pools where regular cleaning isn’t enough anymore, but structural resurfacing isn’t required yet. If the surface has cracking, delamination, or structural damage, a full resurfacing may be the better call — we’ll tell you clearly at the estimate.

Common Signs Include

- The plaster or pebble finish looks dull, discolored, or uneven in color
- Calcium or mineral deposits have built up on the walls and floor
- Staining from metals, algae, or water chemistry imbalances is visible

Additional Warning Signs

- The surface feels rough underfoot but isn't yet cracked or delaminating
- Routine chemical treatments and brushing aren't clearing up the discoloration
- The pool is 5–12 years old and showing visual wear without structural problems

If any of these match your pool, the Revival Package is likely the most cost-effective path back to a clean, bright finish.

Kali Dittrich Client

We have a 34 year old indoor pool that needed resurfaced. Cal -west came out and gave us a fair bid. They were able to handle the complexity of dealing with the indoor pool very well. They showed up each day they said they would and did a great job. They cleaned up well and it only took about a week to start enjoying the pool again.

Ken Crawford Client

I had Cal-West replaster my peeling pool. Juan and Cynthia are very professional and timely. Their crews were on time every time. I also agree 100% with another review that the crew left the job site very clean after each phase of their work. It was like they were never there. They are very reasonably price compared to other quotes I had received. I highly recommend Cal-West and will use them again.

Common Questions About Pool Revival

What is an acid wash, and is it safe for my pool?

An acid wash uses a diluted acidic solution to dissolve mineral scale and surface staining from plaster and pebble finishes. It removes a very thin layer of the surface in the process. When done correctly — at the right concentration, by trained technicians — it restores the surface appearance without damaging the underlying plaster. Overdone acid washing can thin plaster too much, which is why this work should only be done by experienced professionals.

Generally every 3–7 years, depending on water chemistry and conditions. Because each wash removes a thin layer of plaster, pools can’t be washed indefinitely — eventually the plaster thins enough that resurfacing becomes necessary. The MicroGlass coating helps extend the interval between washes.

MicroGlass is a specialized protective coating applied to the pool surface after cleaning. It creates a smooth, low-porosity layer that resists algae attachment and reduces the rate at which calcium and mineral deposits accumulate. Longevity depends on water chemistry maintenance, but the coating is designed to remain effective for several years with proper care.

Yes, significantly. Resurfacing involves removing the existing surface and applying new plaster, quartz, or pebble material — a multi-day project with materials and labor costs that reflect the scope. The Revival Package is a surface refresh and protection service. It’s the right solution when the underlying plaster is still in good condition.

Most Revival Package services are completed in 2–3 days from drain to refill — faster than a full resurfacing project.

We’ll tell you at the estimate. If the surface condition is beyond what the Revival Package can address — significant cracking, delamination, or plaster that’s too thin — we’ll recommend resurfacing and explain why.
